A unit of learning for high jump that introduced a selective learning environment was practiced five times. In the first half of the unit, learning activities were practiced by acquiring a rhythmic approach and challenging the target record using a nomogram. In the second half of the unit, learning activities were practiced by selecting the approach technique (five- or seven-step approach) and the method of goal setting (nomogram or a quick reference table showing percentages for height). Results indicated the following.\n1.The high jump class that introduced a selective learning environment in this study was effective in increasing motivation and interest in learning high jump.\n2.It is desirable to introduce both seven-step and five-step approaches when teaching the technique for high jump approach, and to enable learners to select the approach technique that suits them best.\n3.It is desirable to use both a quick reference table showing percentages for height and nomograms to set goals for high jump, and to encourage learners to use the goal setting method that best
