| 内容記述 | This paper describes Phoenician Influences on the coins minted in Gadara to compare the coin motifs of Phoenician cities with that of Gadara. In the civic coins of Gadara, Tyche was the one of the most important deites of the city. From 58BCE to 40BCE, the bust of Tyche was depicted on observes of coins with a Plam branch. The combination of the bust of Tyche and Plam branch was used only on the coins of Phoenician cities with the exception of Gadara. And the motif of a standing Tyche with Nike on the column also is seen only in issues of Phoenician cities and Gadara with neighboring cities. Some coins mintied in Gadara depict a thunderbolt opposite the bust of Herakles. We also recognize the thunderbolt on Gadarene coins under Elagabal that indicates Herakles holding a thunderbolt of Zeus. It is likely that the Phoenician Melqart was interpreted as the Greek Herakles. Therefore, it seems natural to conclude that there were some mutual influences between Phoenician cities and Gadara. |
