In discussing these topics, the focus was on the traditional form of Japanese learning known as “kata learning” and a detailed analysis within the context of “Judo,” which has particularly evolved into a competitive form within contemporary Budo.\nIn this study, attention is paid to the Sumiotoshi technique in Judo, comparing it to the original kata to identify the athletes’ divergence from kata in competition. This departure from modern Judo as a sport reflects individuals’ creativity and curiosity nurtured through the fundamental kata inherent in Judo as a sport.
