| 内容記述 | The aims of this study were to identify the traditional characteristics of modern Budo and to discuss methods of human development inherent in those arts. In discussing these topics, the focus was on the traditional form of Japanese learning known as “kata learning” and a detailed analysis within the context of “Judo,” which has particularly evolved into a competitive form within contemporary Budo. In this study, attention is paid to the Sumiotoshi technique in Judo, comparing it to the original kata to identify the athletes’ divergence from kata in competition. This departure from modern Judo as a sport reflects individuals’ creativity and curiosity nurtured through the fundamental kata inherent in Judo as a sport. The intentional and incidental accumulation of countless experiences in shaping one’s unique kata is an act of “self-formation.” Identifying kata learning in contemporary Judo reveals the interweaving of Japan’s traditional qualities with the fabric of modern competitive sports. |
