| 内容記述 | The paper presents an English language learner (ELL) program which aims to foster ELLs’ global mindset through language learning. The program utilizes multicultural-themed picture books and classroom activities to improve language, global, and social competency. As English is a tool for global communication that connects us with people across the world, social and global competencies profoundly enhance the academic achievement of English language learners. Helping students acquire the skills to read, write, listen, and speak in English, the program positively impacts ELLs’ diverse views to become culturally conscious and appreciate global diversity. Through textual and visual literacy in picture books, students can develop English language skills and critical thinking abilities. In a final group project, students are prompted to apply and expand the acquired knowledge into collaboration and build social competence. The program provides opportunities to impact students’ cultural and social understanding and future views toward their global experiences and to prepare them to function as a member of the global society through language learning. | |||||
