| 内容記述 | The purpose of this research was to ascertain how martial arts were handled in Japanese schools and how they became compulsory after World War II. Martial arts education was banned by the Allied Powers’ General Headquarters after World War II. It later resumed once Judo and Kendo were emphasized as “sports.” In 1958, a new term-combat sports-was being used. At the time, “combat sports” were linked to moral education, so combat sports flourished when school hours were extended. In 1989, the emphasis was shifted back to “traditional culture,” and “combat sports” were once again renamed “martial arts.” Martial arts ceased being a sport in physical education and instead became part of traditional culture. Amendment of the Basic Act on Education resulted in “respect for traditional culture” and “regionalism” that in turn led to martial arts becoming a compulsory subject in Japanese schools |
